About the role#
Pape-Dawson is hiring Civil Engineer Interns for the summer of 2027. This role focuses on land development projects within our Tennessee offices. You will work under the supervision of a licensed Professional Engineer to gain hands-on experience with design tools, technical documentation, and project coordination. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position.
What you'll do#
- Assist project managers and engineers with the preparation of plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Use AutoCAD Civil 3D to produce drawings, exhibits, and supporting documents.
- Support the creation of technical reports, memoranda, and engineering studies.
- Participate in site visits, field activities, construction observation, and data collection.
- Help with permitting and coordination tasks for land development projects.
- Assist with redlines, submittals, and record drawings.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor of Science program for Civil or Agricultural Engineering at an ABET-accredited university.
- Familiarity with core engineering principles and procedures.
- Basic proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to work well both independently and within a team.

- This internship is located in Knoxville, Franklin, Murfreesboro, Nashville, or Chattanooga, Tennessee.
- The term for this position is Summer 2027.
- This is a full-time, on-site, paid internship.
