About the role#
This summer internship at the Counce, Tennessee mill provides hands-on experience in occupational health and safety. You will work directly with the Mill Health and Safety group and a Certified Safety Professional to improve existing safety systems. This is a full-time, paid position for the summer of 2027. Please note that you must sign up for this program through your university co-op office.
What you'll do#
- Conduct site safety audits and inspections throughout the mill.
- Implement controls and processes to reduce risk and prevent accidents.
- Recommend changes to ensure compliance with health, fire prevention, and environmental regulations.
- Operate noise and air monitoring equipment.
- Familiarize yourself with permitting processes for confined space and hot work activities.
- Create and present safety information to various audiences within the organization.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least 2 years of course work toward a degree.
- A minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Enrollment in a major such as Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Permanent U.S. residency status.
