About the role#
This internship provides engineering support for the planning, design, evaluation, and maintenance of the electric transmission system. You will work alongside experienced engineers, project managers, and field construction teams to develop foundational knowledge of transmission line engineering principles while contributing to the safety and reliability of infrastructure.
What you'll do#
- Support transmission line engineering activities, including the design, evaluation, and maintenance of overhead lines and structures.
- Analyze engineering data, drawings, and calculations related to loading, clearances, and constructability.
- Prepare and review field investigation data, engineering studies, and technical documentation.
- Review field inspection and construction reports to ensure work aligns with engineering standards and approved designs.
- Assist engineers with technical evaluations and support field investigation and construction crews.
- Participate in site visits, inspections, measurements, and the verification of transmission assets.
- Support the evaluation of new tools, technologies, and methods to improve project safety and reliability.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field at an accredited university.
- Must be continuing education toward your degree during or after the internship.
- Valid driver’s license, or the ability to obtain one at least 30 days prior to the start date.
- Experience with AutoCAD is preferred.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification is preferred.
