Substation Asset Strategy Intern

About the role#

The Substation Asset Strategy Intern will join the Substation Asset Management (SAM) team to support the development of new methodologies for calculating the probability and consequence of failure for substation equipment. This role involves working alongside senior engineering staff to analyze equipment risks and maintain reliable electric service.

What you'll do#

• Identify the population of equipment currently in service.
• Determine failure modes for specific equipment types.
• Calculate the probability and consequence of failure for substation assets.
• Collaborate with field partners to verify inventory and ensure accurate data collection.
• Update technical documentation and determine best practices for maintenance and repair.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Civil Engineering at an accredited university.
• Must be continuing education towards your degree during or after the internship.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Desired: EIT or FE certification.
• Desired: Previous engineering experience in utilities, municipalities, construction, or engineering consultation.
