About the role#
The State Government Relations Intern will support the State Government Relations and Stakeholder Engagement teams in Sacramento. This role provides exposure to legislative processes, policy analysis, and stakeholder engagement while contributing to the company's legislative priorities.
What you'll do#
- Monitor, recommend, and analyze legislative developments and policy changes.
- Conduct research on legislative issues and prepare briefing materials.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and communication materials.
- Attend legislative hearings, meetings, and events to provide summaries and insights.
- Coordinate stakeholder meetings and engagements.
- Maintain stakeholder databases and contact lists.
- Draft correspondence and perform administrative tasks to support office operations.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Political Science, Public Administration, Public Health, or a related business field at an accredited university.
- Must be continuing education toward a degree during or after the internship.
- Prior experience or internships in state or local government, legislative affairs, or public policy organizations.
- A valid driver’s license to travel to meetings, conferences, and events within the service territory.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

- Location: Sacramento, California.
- Term: Summer 2026.
- Modality: Hybrid, with an expectation to be on-site at least 3-4 days per week.
- Employment type: Full-time, paid internship.
