Operational Risk Validation Intern

About the role#

The Operational Risk Validation (ORV) team assesses and validates risk mitigations to ensure PG&E’s highest-risk programs are executed effectively. This internship provides exposure to strategic planning, process analytics, and team governance. You will work across stakeholders to synthesize information and improve team workflows, including travel for site and field visits to observe how risk mitigation is delivered in practice.

What you'll do#

• Create and iterate on onboarding materials such as team overviews, key contacts, rhythms of business, and FAQs.
• Document and improve team governance processes, including intake steps, work planning, and reporting cadences.
• Support change management by developing clear job aids and adoption communications.
• Develop templates and standard work, including briefing decks, one-page summaries, checklists, and intake forms.
• Participate in site and field visits, synthesizing observations into actionable insights for risk advisories.
• Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and clarify team workflows.
• Assist in drafting and organizing materials for leadership readouts.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Civil Engineering at an accredited university.
• Must be continuing education towards a degree during or after the internship.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Experience with project or program management concepts through coursework, student projects, or prior internships.

• Term: Summer 2026.
• Work Modality: Hybrid.
• Compensation: $24.52 – $35.37 per hour.
• Employment Status: Full-time, paid internship.
