About the role#
IMEG is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern for a 10-12 week program during the summer of 2027. Based in New York, you will work alongside experienced engineers and consultants on a variety of building types, including hospitality, mixed-use, and commercial projects. This is a paid, full-time hybrid position focused on providing hands-on experience with mechanical systems design and implementation oversight.
What you'll do#
- Assist with design portions of projects related to discipline systems.
- Research resources for commercially available equipment.
- Document design decisions, project progress, and meeting instructions.
- Coordinate design schedules with other disciplines, including architectural, structural, electrical, and technology teams.
- Review project documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare and issue addendum information.
- Conduct periodic job site observations.
What you'll need#
- Completed at least 2 years toward a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Skills in AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software.
- A strong interest in design consulting.
- Ability to communicate clearly with individuals and groups.
