About the role#
The Wildfire Operations program is seeking a Graphic Design/Communications Intern to improve visual storytelling and communication. This role involves transforming technical content into clear, compelling visual products that support team activities, planning, and stakeholder engagement. You will work with subject matter experts to create designs that have real-world impact within a mission-driven environment.
What you'll do#
- Design infographics, one-pagers, diagrams, and communication materials supporting wildfire programs.
- Convert complex technical and operational data into clear visual formats for internal and external audiences.
- Develop brand-aligned templates, style guides, and layout standards consistent with company branding.
- Produce visual assets for presentations, dashboards, reports, and digital platforms.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to understand program needs and propose creative design solutions.
- Maintain accuracy and version control across all visual assets and assist with light multimedia tasks such as icon creation, simple animations, and photo editing.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program at an accredited university in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Digital Media, Multimedia Arts, or a related field.
- Proficiency with Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Figma, Canva, or similar industry-standard design tools.
- Strong understanding of design principles including layout, typography, color theory, and branding.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organization and time-management skills.
- Ability to translate technical information into clean, intuitive graphics.
- Familiarity with the MS 365 software suite and SharePoint site management is preferred.
