The Wildfire Operations program is seeking a Graphic Design/Communications Intern to strengthen visual storytelling and communication. This role involves transforming technical content into clear, compelling visual products that support team activities, situational awareness, reporting, planning, and stakeholder engagement. This is a paid internship opportunity for Summer 2026.
What you'll do#
- Design visually compelling infographics, one-pagers, diagrams, and communication materials that support wildfire programs and initiatives.
- Convert complex technical and operational data into clear, understandable visual formats for internal and external audiences.
- Support the development of brand-aligned templates, style guides, and layout standards for the Wildfire Operations team, consistent with company branding standards.
- Produce visual assets for presentations, dashboards, reports, and digital platforms.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to understand program needs and propose creative design solutions.
- Maintain accuracy and version control across all created visual assets and assist with light multimedia tasks such as icons, simple animations, and photo editing.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree at an accredited university in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Digital Media, Multimedia Arts, or a related field.
- Proficiency with industry-standard design tools such as Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Figma, or Canva.
- Strong understanding of design principles including layout, typography, color theory, and branding.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organization and time-management skills.
- Ability to utilize MS 365 software suite and familiarity with SharePoint site management.
- Must be continuing education towards a degree during or after the internship.
