About the role#
The Coe Student Innovation Center (CSIC) at the University of Wyoming is looking for student innovators to help run our makerspace lab. As a Makerspace Aide, you will support day-to-day operations, maintain equipment, and help visitors bring their design projects to life. This role involves active participation in the lab, from troubleshooting hardware to leading small group workshops for students, faculty, and community members.
What you'll do#
- Monitor and maintain CSIC hardware and software, including 3D printers, electronics, and computers.
- Assist users with constructing 3D designs and troubleshooting technical issues.
- Provide small group instruction, orientations, and workshops for various audiences.
- Formulate and implement policies for maintaining lab equipment and ensuring safe usage.
- Serve as a lab ambassador by answering questions and promoting available resources.
- Manage afternoon and evening lab operations in the absence of the Makerspace Coordinator.
What you'll need#
- High School education or higher.
- Must be eligible for and have accepted a work study award.
- Enthusiasm for emergent technology, DIY projects, and creative design.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including K-12 students, faculty, and community members.
- Experience in at least one of the following: 3D printing, robotics, electronics, coding, modeling, or STEAM lesson plan development.
- Strong verbal and presentation skills.
