About the role#
As a Corrosion Engineering Intern, you will provide technical support to programs that maintain and operate the electric transmission system. You will work alongside engineers and technicians to investigate and remediate atmospheric, underground, and concrete corrosion. Your work helps improve the safety and reliability of steel infrastructure.
What you'll do#
- Support the development and communication of new corrosion control standards.
- Analyze large datasets to assess mitigation scope, economic value, and long-range planning.
- Prepare and review engineering studies and field investigation data to assist with department decisions.
- Review daily field inspection reports to confirm that work practices meet standards.
- Provide engineering guidance to field investigation and construction crews.
- Assist with field work related to engineering designs and construction.
- Evaluate new technologies to optimize maintenance and affordability.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor or Master degree program in Chemical, Materials, Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering.
- You must continue your education during or after the internship.
- A cumulative and major GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- EIT or FE certification is preferred.
