About the role#
This is a full-time, paid Mechanical Engineer Intern position based in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. You will work on-site during the Summer of 2027. You will assist various engineering teams with mechanical functions, ranging from design and production to testing and manufacturing.
What you'll do#
- Prepare vehicle component layouts using CAD software.
- Select parts and components based on weight, cost, and reliability.
- Perform engineering calculations for stress analysis, weight distribution, and performance.
- Design, model, and test new mechanical systems for integration into vehicles.
- Follow projects on the assembly floor for prototype, pilot, or production builds.
- Create and manage Engineering Change Notices in the PLM system.
- Update bills of materials in the PDM system.
- Consult with internal departments, suppliers, and customers to solve problems.
- If assigned to the Test and Development area, you will establish test requirements, create test plans, design fixtures, monitor testing, and communicate results.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program for Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- A graduation date of December 2027 or later.
- Ability to travel or relocate to Oshkosh, WI for the summer of 2027.
- Experience with CAD systems such as CATIA, Creo, or Pro-E.
- Strong interest in mechanical design.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Previous internship or work-related experience.
- Participation in extracurricular activities.
