    About the role#

    This is a 12-week summer engineering internship at the NXP wafer manufacturing facility in Austin. You will work alongside an experienced mentor to learn the fundamentals of semiconductor technology and operations. Your primary focus is to troubleshoot production equipment and process issues within the factory. You will own one or more projects tied to key business metrics like safety, quality, delivery, and cost. At the end of the term, you will present your results to factory senior management.

    What you'll do#

    • Optimize production equipment including parts, preventative maintenance, cleaning, and repair.
    • Refine manufacturing process steps by adjusting materials, time, temperature, and dose.
    • Integrate tool improvements across various operating systems.
    • Coordinate tasks while managing shared or limited resources.
    • Collaborate with process engineers, operations, and facilities teams on testing, tool performance, installs, and removals.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a BS program for Mechanical, Materials Science, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering.
    • A strong interest in learning the semiconductor industry.
    • Ability to take initiative and work effectively with a mentor.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Good problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
    • You must be returning to school or graduating at the conclusion of the internship.

    • Location: Austin, Texas (Ed Bluestein office).
    • Term: Summer 2027.
    • Work Modality: On-site.
    • Status: Full-time, paid internship.
