About the role#
Northwood is looking for a Sites Intern to join our Site Operations team. You will design, build, and deploy hardware for our global ground station network. This role involves working directly with physical systems where your technical decisions impact our operations. You will act as a versatile engineer, handling both mechanical and electrical tasks while working alongside internal teams and external partners.
What you'll do#
- Own a ground station hardware project from initial design through production and field deployment.
- Build complex ground support equipment, wire harnesses, and test setups.
- Support critical site operations for customer-serving ground stations.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and solve technical issues with urgency.
- Collaborate with mentors and cross-functional engineers to complete your projects.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor or graduate program for Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, or Aerospace Engineering.
- Ability to relocate to Los Angeles for 12 weeks during Summer 2026.
- Skill in working within a professional team environment.
- A GPA of 3.5 or above is preferred.
- Prior experience designing, building, and testing complex electrical and mechanical systems is preferred.
- Compliance with U.S. export regulations for space technology, which requires being a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.

- This is a full-time, paid internship based on-site in Los Angeles, California.
- The term for this position is Summer 2026.
