About the role#
This is a year-round, part-time student position within the JD Power Systems team. You will work alongside our full-time staff to provide design and testing support for the Power Cylinder, Cranktrain, and Geartrain module team. This role requires you to work on-site in Waterloo, Iowa.
What you'll do#
- Provide design and testing support for module teams.
- Help plan, coordinate, and follow up on laboratory test activities.
- Apply your design experience to support fixtures, components, or test-related projects.
- Coordinate the procurement of test fixtures.
- Collect post-test measurements and assist with data processing and interpretation.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts on material analysis.
- Organize information to return parts to suppliers for detailed analysis.
- Complete limited scope design projects using Creo.
- Track project metrics such as requirements approval status and verification progress.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a full-time student at an accredited U.S. college or university.
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.
- A graduation date of Spring 2028 or later.
- A cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and PowerPoint.
- Some experience with design CAD software, with Creo experience being a plus.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work 16-20 hours per week during the academic year and 30-40 hours during the summer.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
