About the role#
Northwood is looking for a Software Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term. You will work on our global ground station network infrastructure, focusing on the design and optimization of data movement. This role involves working with cross-functional teams to build systems that prioritize reliability and scalability.
What you'll do#
- Define secure and scalable interfaces for payload data transfer.
- Support the design and implementation of the data plane, integrating on-premises and cloud environments.
- Develop, test, and maintain pipelines for data movement and processing.
- Build systems that are observable, fault-tolerant, and reliable.
- Work alongside software, network, and FPGA engineers to optimize network deployments.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Knowledge of programming languages like Rust, C++, or Golang.
- Interest in systems programming, networking protocols, and distributed systems.
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Exposure to containerization, continuous integration, or deployment tools.

- This internship is located on-site in Los Angeles, California.
- This is a full-time, paid position for Summer 2027.
