About the role#
The Risk Management Summer Analyst Program is a 10-week internship designed to provide hands-on experience within Nomura’s Americas Risk Management Division. Analysts work as full members of the team, collaborating with professionals across various levels while receiving guidance from a peer and a senior mentor. This program is a primary pipeline for full-time recruiting.
What you'll do#
Depending on your assigned team, you will contribute to one of the following areas:
- Credit Risk: Analyze the credit quality of counterparties, including hedge funds and financial institutions, and evaluate proposed transactions.
- Market Risk: Manage traded positions across cash and derivatives, focusing on fixed income and equities while learning market risk metrics.
- Operational Risk Management: Protect the firm from non-financial risks like fraud, technology failures, and cyber threats by testing processes and controls.
- Risk Methodology Group: Develop frameworks to quantify potential losses at the trade and portfolio levels and participate in regulatory capital model research.
- Model Validation Group: Review model documentation, evaluate conceptual soundness, perform statistical analyses, and prepare validation reports.
- New Business: Provide governance and administration for new business initiatives and coordinate approval processes for transactions.
- Risk Reporting & Infrastructure: Design dashboards, manage reporting tools, and drive data management strategies to ensure data integrity and scalable architecture.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, or Finance.
- Expected graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028.
- A minimum GPA of 3.5.
- Current authorization to work for any employer in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.
- Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- A motivated mindset and a working knowledge of the financial services industry.
