About the role#
As a Software Development Intern focused on AI, you will work with an AI Development Team Lead to research and build solutions that support our software lifecycle and business operations. You will gain hands-on experience by exploring emerging technologies, prototyping new tools, and analyzing business processes to find opportunities for intelligent automation. Depending on business needs and your interests, you may contribute to projects involving machine learning, generative AI, natural language processing, and data analysis.
What you'll do#
- Research and evaluate emerging AI tools, frameworks, and technologies.
- Support the development, testing, and documentation of AI-driven proof-of-concepts.
- Analyze business workflows to identify areas for automation and efficiency improvements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and explore use cases.
- Perform testing and validation of AI solutions and software enhancements.
- Assist with data preparation and organization for machine learning initiatives.
- Document findings and project updates in internal tools.
What you'll need#
- A High School diploma or equivalent.
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Familiarity with AI concepts like machine learning, generative AI, and natural language processing.
- Experience with programming languages such as Python or Java.
- Knowledge of data structures, databases, and general software development lifecycles.
- Familiarity with AI platforms, cloud-based AI services, or AI-assisted development tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Location & details#
- This is a paid, full-time internship for Summer 2027 (May through August).
- The role is hybrid, requiring you to work from one of our offices in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, or Lake Saint Louis, Missouri.
- You will be expected to work from the office at least 3 days per week, with the option to work up to 5 days per week.
