About the role#
As an AI/ML PhD Intern, you will join a team focused on building the AI foundation for Sigma. You will work on projects that directly impact the workflow for thousands of enterprises. We are looking for researchers who want to apply AI to data analytics and business workflows.
What you'll do#
- Conduct original AI/ML research in areas like search, recommendations, natural language processing, and agentic workflows.
- Prototype and productionize AI systems that balance intuitive design with complex backend logic.
- Solve novel UX problems where AI, analytics, and data apps intersect.
- Contribute to scalable AI/ML infrastructure for the experimentation, training, and evaluation of large-scale models.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a PhD program for AI/ML at a U.S. accredited university.
- A deep understanding of machine learning, including deep learning algorithms, model architectures, and optimization.
- Familiarity with the full ML lifecycle, including data curation, training, deployment, and monitoring.
- A baseline understanding of building and deploying production-grade AI/ML systems.
- A desire to bridge the gap between research and real-world application.
