About the role#
The New York Post is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented YouTube Intern to join the video team. This role focuses on managing and growing the YouTube presence by contributing to content ideation, scheduling, and optimization. You will work within a newsroom environment to help shape the editorial voice of the channel.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the publishing and optimization of video content on YouTube.
- Monitor news and entertainment trends to identify and pitch timely content opportunities.
- Ensure all videos are correctly tagged, titled, and categorized.
- Support the team in meeting tight deadlines within a newsroom setting.
What you'll need#
- A strong interest in news, specifically hard news and entertainment.
- Previous experience using YouTube as a content management platform.
- Excellent news judgment and an understanding of what makes a story engaging on digital platforms.
- Strong writing and communication skills.
- Highly organized, deadline-driven, and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Academic background in journalism, communications, media, or a related field.
- Proficiency in YouTube Studio, metadata best practices, and video analytics is a plus, as is experience with video editing or thumbnail creation tools.
Location & details#
- Location: New York, New York.
- Term: Fall 2026 (September 14, 2026, to November 20, 2026).
- Schedule: Part-time, 24 hours per week, on-site.
- Compensation: $20 per hour.
- Eligibility: Open to current juniors and seniors pursuing a BA, MA students, and recent graduates who completed their degree within the past year.
