About the role#
As a research intern, you will conduct networking research within the context of a global Content Delivery Network (CDN). You will explore opportunities for performance, resilience, and reliability optimizations while deepening the understanding of how infrastructure interacts with the Internet and how clients connect to the CDN.
What you'll do#
- Conduct research on networking and CDN performance.
- Support the coordination and operation of Open Connect Appliances (OCAs) deployed globally.
- Analyze how infrastructure interacts with the Internet to ensure reliable connectivity.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a PhD in Computer Science or a related field with a focus on networking, Internet Measurement, or distributed systems.
- Expected graduation date of December 2026, Summer 2027, or later.
- Must be returning to school for at least one semester or quarter following the internship.
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, and BGP.
- Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills, including knowledge of statistical methods.
- Excellent software development skills and familiarity with software engineering best practices, such as version control, testing, and code reviews.
