About the role#
The Inter-American Development Bank is hiring a graduate student for a Winter 2027 internship within the Systemic Risk Group. This is a paid, full-time, on-site position based at our headquarters in Washington D.C. You will gain professional experience by contributing to risk monitoring and automated reporting projects.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with the Systemic Risk Group to research and develop monitoring indicators, methodologies, and stress-testing tools.
- Conduct research using NLP-based quantitative text analysis to create early-warning indicators and probabilistic forecasts.
- Assist in building automated solutions for data processing and reporting.
- Prepare presentations and documentation regarding your findings and automated tools.
- Support the team with ad hoc risk management tasks.
What you'll need#
- You must be an active graduate student in mathematics, statistics, computer science, physics, economics, or a related quantitative field.
- You must have completed at least 50% of your coursework at the time of application.
- Your graduation date must be after the internship period ends.
- You need experience in mathematical, statistical, financial, or economic modeling.
- Proficiency in statistical tools, probability, and coding is required.
- Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Spanish, French, or Portuguese is a plus.
- You must be a national of an IDB member country.
- This must be your first internship with the IDB Group, and you must not have previously worked for the Bank or IDB Invest in any capacity.

- Location: Washington D.C., United States.
- Term: January 16, 2027, to March 15, 2027.
- Commitment: Full-time (40 hours per week).
