About the role#
We are looking for a Geotechnical Laboratory Intern to join our team in Fort Lauderdale. This position is part of our Building and Construction division. You will work under supervision to support our testing and inspection services for civil and commercial construction projects.
What you'll do#
- Perform laboratory testing following controlled procedures.
- Operate equipment for tasks such as grain size analysis, concrete compressive strength, and proctor testing.
- Calibrate and maintain both laboratory and field equipment.
- Observe site activities and document your findings.
- Calculate test results using a calculator.
- Maintain detailed records and data from all tests.
- Communicate project status to clients and internal teams.
- Follow safety policies to ensure a secure work environment for yourself and others.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma or GED.
- A degree or current progress toward a degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or Geology is preferred.
- Basic math, computer, and calculator skills.
- Ability to read and follow work plans.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A valid driver's license and a reliable driving record.
- Availability to work off shifts and overtime as needed.
- Ability to lift, move, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and stand for long periods.
