About the role#
The Theatrical Distribution Intern supports the day-to-day operations of getting films into theaters. You will work closely with the Theatrical Sales and Distribution team to manage logistics and support the release process. This role is a hands-on opportunity to learn how films reach audiences, from the initial marketing plans to the final theater exhibition.
What you'll do#
- Manage shipping timelines and track film prints to ensure timely delivery to theaters.
- Build case study decks and research marketing plans for past releases.
- Assist with box office report entry, invoicing, and updating release calendars.
- Conduct grassroots and organizational outreach.
- Update a catalog of contacts for non-theatrical sales.
- Communicate with exhibitors regarding in-theater marketing needs.
- Conduct routine theater checks at key LA cinemas.
- Attend Q&A screenings and work with theater managers on-site.
- Support screening events and special activations.
- Provide general administrative and shipping support.
- Stay current with industry trends and best practices.
What you'll need#
- Current undergraduate student enrolled at an accredited college or university, taking at least one class during the term.
- Must reside in the LA area, hold a valid driver's license, and have access to a car.
- Genuine interest in theatrical distribution, marketing, and the exhibition of independent films.
- Familiarity with the NEON slate.
- Excellent organization, attention to detail, and strong analytical skills.
- Clear written communication for internal updates and exhibitor outreach.
- Proficiency in Excel, Google Sheets, and Google Workspace tools.
- Working knowledge of the theatrical landscape.
- Self-starter mindset.
- Experience with Premiere or Photoshop is a plus.
- Prior experience in distribution, exhibition, programming, or marketing is a bonus.

- Location: Los Angeles, California.
- Term: Winter 2027 (January 4, 2027 to May 21, 2027).
- Modality: On-site, three full days per week.
- Compensation: Paid at $18.50 per hour.
