About the role#
NEON offers an undergraduate internship program designed to provide hands-on experience in film distribution. You will work alongside industry professionals on campaigns for upcoming releases. This role provides exposure to marketing, publicity, acquisitions, and theatrical sales. Interns participate in structured programming, professional development, and cross-functional projects.
What you'll do#
- Support Marketing and PR teams with campaigns for NEON releases.
- Assist with social media content creation, including drafting captions and sourcing assets.
- Conduct competitive research for marketing materials and campaigns.
- Develop case studies and complete research projects for the media department.
- Contribute ideas for creative activations, events, and promotional opportunities.
- Maintain organization across project trackers, calendars, and shared materials.
- Engage in grassroots outreach.
- Create comprehensive calendars for major events like award shows.
- Provide support for special events and screenings.
- Handle general administrative tasks and assist with departmental projects.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate student at an accredited college or university.
- Must be taking at least one class during the internship term.
- Strong interest in film, entertainment marketing, and the independent film space.
- Familiarity with NEON’s slate and an eye for storytelling, tone, and audience.
- Curiosity and cultural engagement.
- Working knowledge of major social media platforms.
- Comfort researching trends, talent, and audiences.
- Excellent communication and writing skills.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and proactive approach.
- Experience with Canva or Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
- Prior marketing, PR, or social media experience is a bonus.
Location & details#
- Term: Winter 2027.
- Modality: On-site in New York, New York or Los Angeles, California.
- Compensation: Paid position at $18.50 per hour.
- Schedule: Part-time, requiring 2-3 days per week in the office.
