About the role#
The Nebraska Department of Transportation Construction Division offers an opportunity for a student to gain hands-on experience in plans, specifications, cost estimating, and construction. This role involves working closely with department designers and consultants in a collaborative environment.
What you'll do#
- Track and review roadway, bridge, and building plan corrections to verify requested changes.
- Manage the submittal and return of plan corrections to project designers.
- Prepare documentation related to cost estimating.
- Assist with the preparation of letting packages, contract time allowance, and project final reviews.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as at least a three-fourths time student in good standing.
- Major in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Second semester sophomore status or higher with a focus on horizontal or vertical design or construction.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Basic knowledge of Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD).
- Experience with Bluebeam or Adobe Acrobat is a plus.
- Ability to work at least 12 hours per week during the academic session, with 16 hours preferred.
