About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience by shadowing Child and Family Service Specialists. You will learn how to support vulnerable populations, assist families navigating child welfare interventions, and contribute to environments that promote safety and stability for children and youth.
What you'll do#
- Shadow Child and Family Service Specialists to gain practical insight into case management.
- Advocate for the needs of families and respect their individual cultural backgrounds.
- Implement family-centered practice principles to ensure families are included in decision-making processes.
- Promote normalcy in the lives of children currently in care.
- Write clear, concise, and descriptive reports for use by legal entities and the court system.
- Identify and make referrals for formal and informal interventions based on family needs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program, or graduation within the last year, from an accredited college or university.
- Preferred academic background in Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Human Resources, Public Health, Social Work, or Counseling.
- Prior experience or interest in mental healthcare, criminal justice, education, or child welfare services.
