About the role#
The Department of Health and Human Services is seeking students for a graduate-level social work internship. You will gain hands-on experience supporting individuals, families, and communities while developing professional skills under licensed supervision. This role focuses on applying social work theory and ethical practice in real-world settings.
What you'll do#
- Assist with client assessments, psychosocial evaluations, and service planning.
- Support case management activities such as referrals, service coordination, and follow-up.
- Participate in individual, family, or group-based interventions.
- Maintain accurate and timely case documentation that meets agency and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including social workers and clinicians.
- Observe and support crisis intervention and problem-solving efforts.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Master of Social Work (MSW) program.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to engage respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Commitment to client-centered and trauma-informed practice.
- Ability to complete required background checks and pre-service training.
