About the role#
The Department of Revenue is seeking interns to gain experience in state taxation. This is a temporary, full-time position where you will work under the direct supervision of auditors and management. You will support the team in both field and office environments.
What you'll do#
- Assist with audits in the field and the office.
- Help issue tax assessments based on audit findings.
- Conduct research and data analysis using various sources.
- Support the team with additional projects as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program or graduation within the last year. Relevant majors include Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration.
- Completion of 12 hours of post-secondary accounting is preferred.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, is expected.
- Experience with SQL, other programming, or state tax programs is a plus.
- Ability to work independently, plan your work, and adapt to new assignments.

- This is an on-site role based in Lincoln, North Platte, Kearney, or Omaha, Nebraska.
- This position is paid and full-time.
- The role is part of the SOS Temporary Program with an assignment duration through September 30, 2027.
- The department does not provide visa sponsorship for this position.
