About the role#
This is a paid, full-time internship for Summer 2027 within the Transportation Business Unit. You will work on live projects across bridge inspection, highway, and roadway sectors. You will collaborate with managers and mentors to apply classroom learning to real-world design challenges.
What you'll do#
- Assist with roadway geometric and drainage design and plan preparation.
- Conduct field inspections and enter data into specialized software, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
- Assemble reports and project documents.
- Operate access equipment after receiving proper training.
- Take on diverse design assignments with increasing responsibility.
- Support technical staff on daily projects and interact with senior leadership.
- Participate in regular guidance and feedback sessions.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Experience with MicroStation or AutoCAD. Familiarity with OpenRoad Designer is preferred.
- Strong technical skills and attention to detail.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Ability to perform fieldwork, including climbing, carrying ladders and gear, and working at heights in various weather conditions.
- Willingness to travel out of town for inspections.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
