About the role#
As a Summer Student with our Assurance and Accounting team, you will gain hands-on experience in a professional accounting environment. You will work with a team that provides financial information to help clients make informed business decisions.
What you'll do#
- Build technical skills in areas including audits, reviews, compilations, bookkeeping, and tax.
- Apply your knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, and ASPE standards to client work.
- Manage multiple files simultaneously, set up new client files, and conduct inventory counts.
- Prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.
- Investigate and correct discrepancies in financial entries and documents.
- Draft correspondence, technical reports, and client summaries to outline engagement findings.
- Perform walk-throughs for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and capital assets.
- Collaborate with engagement teams and maintain contact with clients.
What you'll need#
- Working towards a bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration, with a preference for accounting or finance majors.
- Progressing toward the prerequisites required for admission into the CPA Professional Education Program.
- Previous office experience in accounting is an asset.
- Experience in customer or client service is an asset.
- Familiarity with accounting and tax software is considered an asset.
