About the role#
The Microelectronics Laboratory is seeking students to apply their science and engineering skills in a wafer fabrication facility. This co-op role focuses on creating and improving fabrication processes through the design, execution, and analysis of experiments. You will contribute to projects supporting national security interests, including the fabrication of superconducting circuits, quantum computing circuits, radiation hardened electronics, RF devices, integrated photonics, and charge coupled imagers.
What you'll do#
- Design, run, and analyze experiments to improve wafer fabrication processes.
- Implement process improvements to support national security objectives.
- Support the fabrication of state-of-the-art superconducting and quantum computing circuits.
- Engage in technical processes including photolithography, reactive ion etching, plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition, physical vapor deposition, wafer bonding, wet chemical processing, and ion implantation.
What you'll need#
- Undergraduate background in physics, chemistry, materials science, engineering, or statistics.
- Willingness to work in a cleanroom environment.
- Enthusiasm for solving complex problems and an interest in working within a team.
- US citizenship.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background investigation and obtain and maintain a Secret level DoD security clearance.
