About the role#
The Cyber System Assessments Group performs reverse engineering, vulnerability research, and system exploitation. We develop prototypes for U.S. government partners to help them understand and correct cyber vulnerabilities. As a co-op, you will work with a team of experts to conduct research and development on offensive software. You will define a project with your mentor based on your interests and goals.
What you'll do#
- Conduct research and development on offensive software.
- Develop systems to enable malware reverse engineering.
- Research techniques to automate reverse engineering.
- Perform exploratory data analysis on large malware corpora.
- Incorporate AI, machine learning, and data science into malware analysis.
- Build new malware corpora.
- Develop distributed systems for large-scale automated malware analysis.
- Develop metrics to evaluate research results.
What you'll need#
- Junior, senior, or graduate student status in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a similar technical field.
- Ability to drive your own research project.
- Strong technical writing and presentation skills.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level DoD security clearance.

- Term: Winter 2027 (January through June).
