About the role#
This is a part-time, paid internship at the Minnesota Historical Society. You will work on-site in St. Paul to research the 80-year history of the Twin Cities Japanese American Citizens League (TCJACL). This role runs from January 19, 2027, through August 29, 2027. You will work 8-15 hours per week, with preferred shifts on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.
Interns must attend three in-person professional development seminars and complete a final presentation of their work.
What you'll do#
- Research TCJACL organizational records located at the Minnesota History Center, the Gale Family Library, the East Side Freedom Library, and with TCJACL members.
- Identify key individuals and events from the organization's history.
- Create a comprehensive document of these historical findings.
- Develop a way to present this timeline to the public, such as a written report, a visual display, or a digital version.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student, or graduation within the past 12 months.
- Academic background in History, Journalism, or related fields.
- Experience with archival research.
- Interest in Asian American history.
- Ability to work independently and pay close attention to detail.
