    About the role#

    As an Operations Planning Engineer Co-op, you will gain experience in how a large electric grid is planned and operated. You will work with teams responsible for maintaining system reliability and supporting energy markets. This role involves applying engineering concepts to real-world grid challenges and collaborating across departments to ensure electricity flows to millions of customers.

    What you'll do#

    • Support outage planning processes for the electric system.
    • Analyze future grid conditions.
    • Determine safe and reliable paths for maintenance, construction, and other system changes.
    • Run power flow studies and review system models.
    • Evaluate the impacts of planned transmission outages on the grid.
    • Analyze contingencies and identify reliability concerns.
    • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams.
    • Present a capstone summary on your project contributions to grid management.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment as a Junior or Senior undergraduate student.
    • Pursuit of a degree in Electrical Engineering.
    • Completion of core Electrical Engineering coursework.
    • Preferred: Coursework in Power Systems Analysis.
    • Preferred: Programming experience in Python, MATLAB, or C++.
    • Preferred: Hands-on projects or internships related to grid modeling or system studies.

    • Term: Winter 2027.
