About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027 based in Carmel, Indiana. You will work on real AI and software engineering projects to help MISO build new technologies. The role involves moving projects from early prototypes to production-ready tools. You will support AI-enabled workflows, including data pipelines, automation, and LLM/RAG agents. This position is on-site, requiring an average of 40 hours per week.
What you'll do#
- Build and test AI tools using Python, GitHub, and cloud platforms.
- Develop observability dashboards and pilot features.
- Collaborate with engineers, product teams, and emerging-tech specialists to refine requirements and improve system reliability.
- Participate in community service events, intern socials, and professional development programming.
- Present a final summary of your project work, recommendations, and impact at the end of the summer.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program for Computer Science, Data Science, Computer Engineering, or Artificial Intelligence.
- Proficiency in Python and experience with GitHub and GitHub Copilot.
- Knowledge of generative AI, LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG, agent frameworks, and automation.
- Familiarity with or interest in cloud infrastructure, networking, observability, and security fundamentals.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to ask thoughtful questions.
- A curious and collaborative approach to solving technical problems.
