About the role#
The Distributed Intelligence Data Science team is seeking a summer intern for 2027. This role focuses on grid optimization, asset management, DER integration, and customer engagement. You will work with data scientists, software engineers, and product line managers to help utilities improve distribution system visibility.
What you'll do#
- Build and maintain data and production machine learning pipelines.
- Support the development and maintenance of cloud infrastructure.
- Clean and prepare datasets for analysis, algorithm development, and production.
- Conduct exploratory data analysis with senior team members and subject matter experts.
- Communicate findings to relevant stakeholders.
- Support the development and refinement of new machine learning models.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited bachelor's degree program in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or Computer Engineering.
- Completion of at least two years of college coursework.
- Intermediate experience with SQL and Python.
- Experience with AI agent-driven code development, testing, and review.
- Experience with statistical methods and data analysis.
- Exposure to machine learning.
- Professional workplace communication skills.
- Preferred: Enrollment in a master's degree program.
- Preferred: Experience with AWS, Azure, GitHub, or AI agent-supported interactive data analysis.
- Preferred: Prior internship or relevant work experience.
