About the role#
As a Software Engineering Intern within the CoreAI team, you will build software solutions that integrate AI and machine learning. You will work on real-world projects alongside teams to design, develop, and test software. This role focuses on advancing developer tools and agentic applications while ensuring security and trust are maintained throughout the development lifecycle.
What you'll do#
- Apply engineering principles and AI techniques to solve complex technical problems.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to determine user requirements for features.
- Learn and adopt new engineering methods and AI/ML techniques.
- Apply Microsoft responsible AI practices to your work.
- Seek feedback to improve technical solutions and project outcomes.
- Manage your time effectively to complete projects within a team environment.
- Review developments to improve product reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor or Master degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, with at least one semester remaining after the internship.
- One year of programming experience in an object-oriented language.
- Understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures and algorithms.
- Knowledge of AI and machine learning concepts.
- Experience with AI/ML projects.
- Familiarity with AI frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
- Experience using AI tools like GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, and Microsoft Roo Code.
