About the role#
As a Software Engineer Intern at EffiGov, you will work directly with the founders and engineering team to build and ship production software for local governments. You will take ownership of projects, solve real customer problems, and work across the entire stack. We value engineers who balance scrappiness with sound judgment. You will learn to prioritize manual solutions or hardcoding before building abstractions.
What you'll do#
- Ship features and resolve customer issues in production.
- Work with founders and engineers to understand customer needs.
- Improve internal tools, deployment processes, and engineering workflows.
- Debug issues within production AI systems.
- Build and launch new capabilities for government customers.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, physics, or equivalent technical experience.
- Strong programming fundamentals and the ability to build software independently.
- Experience building full-stack or backend systems.
- Proficiency with at least some of the following: Python, TypeScript, React, Next.js, APIs, cloud infrastructure, or Docker.
- Demonstrated initiative through projects with real users, hackathons, research, or open-source contributions.
- Ability to navigate unfamiliar technical problems quickly.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
