About the role#
As an Applied Science PhD Intern, you will work on machine intelligence and machine learning applications. You will translate product goals into specific machine learning tasks and design experimental processes to iterate on solutions. This role involves implementing prototypes for scalable AI systems and preparing data for modeling. You will work under the guidance of senior team members to adapt data for machine learning purposes and share research insights with your team.
What you'll do#
- Analyze and improve algorithm performance on large-scale datasets.
- Identify product challenges and define machine learning tasks to address them.
- Implement prototypes of scalable systems for AI applications.
- Review and clean data, ensuring quality and technical constraints are met.
- Assist in the development of datasets and the scaling of feature ideation.
- Gain knowledge of research techniques and industry trends.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Doctorate program in Computer Science, Statistics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- At least one academic term remaining after the internship concludes.
- Experience with research publications, coursework, or projects in areas like language models, recommender systems, search, or geospatial intelligence.
- Ability to run controlled experiments and interpret evaluation metrics.
- Familiarity with distributed systems or productionizing applied science solutions.
- Understanding of how AI tools improve personalization, discovery, and user satisfaction.
