About the role#
As a Data Science PhD Intern, you will use machine learning, statistics, and AI to improve products and drive business results. You will work within global teams to address engineering challenges, using data to inform product functionality and customer experiences. This is a full-time, on-site internship based in Redmond, Washington.
What you'll do#
- Formulate problem-solving approaches using defined algorithms and data sources.
- Use data exploration to find new opportunities and define the limitations of your data.
- Interpret analysis results, validate your methods, and iterate to improve outcomes.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to turn your findings into clear, actionable insights.
- Participate in peer reviews and apply feedback to your work.
- Incorporate an understanding of customer perspectives into your technical projects.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a PhD program in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or a related field.
- At least one academic quarter or semester remaining after the internship concludes.
- Enrollment in a full-time academic program during the term immediately preceding the internship.
- Proficiency in Python, Perl, or C#.
- Experience or coursework with large data systems like SQL or Hadoop.
- Experience or coursework in data analysis and statistics using tools such as Excel, R, MATLAB, AMPL, or SAS.
- Familiarity with product and service telemetry systems.
- Preferred: Experience with A/B testing, experimentation, or applying basic machine learning to data.
