About the role#
The Heterogeneous Integration Group at Micron focuses on High-Bandwidth Memory (HBM) architectures and clocking methodologies for AI, networking, and data-center applications. As an intern, you will work with architects and engineers to evaluate clocking strategies, PLL performance, and timing behavior. This role involves using modeling techniques and AI-assisted workflows to support design decisions.
What you'll do#
- Analyze and document HBM clocking architectures, including clock distribution networks, WDQS timing, and PLL design.
- Evaluate clock noise, jitter, timing margins, and the impact of PLLs on high-speed IO signal quality.
- Benchmark alternative clocking solutions and provide data-driven recommendations.
- Identify performance optimization opportunities to support architecture-level design.
- Use Large Language Models (LLMs), Generative AI, and AI-assisted workflows to improve engineering analysis and productivity.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
- Solid understanding of analog and mixed-signal circuit fundamentals.
- Familiarity with clock generation, distribution, PLLs, DLLs, jitter, and timing analysis.
- Experience with simulation tools such as SPICE, Spectre, HSPICE, or MATLAB.
- Strong analytical, debugging, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of timing analysis, signal integrity, and power integrity.
- Experience with Python or similar scripting for automation and data analysis.
- Exposure to Generative AI or LLMs for engineering productivity.
- Coursework or research in analog/mixed-signal design or high-speed interfaces.
Location & details#
- Location: Richardson, Texas.
- Employment Type: Full-time internship.
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: This is a paid internship.
