About the role#
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is hiring a Transit Railcar Technology Specialist Intern to work within the Subways division. This is a full-time, paid internship based in Brooklyn. You will receive training in railcar technology and perform entry-level assignments to help resolve operational issues and implement design modifications.
What you'll do#
- Assist with Communication-Based Train Control (CBTC) projects.
- Support performance and failure analysis for CBTC electronic systems.
- Review technical documentation, including schematics, drawings, and wiring diagrams.
- Prepare test reports summarizing findings and results.
- Analyze data downloads from Carborne CBTC and non-CBTC equipment to identify trends.
- Provide technical support to Maintenance Shops for troubleshooting electronic and software system failures.
- Support shop activities regarding equipment and software installations.
What you'll need#
- A baccalaureate degree in electrical, mechanical, civil, transportation, aerospace, or computer engineering, or a related field like computer science or cybersecurity.
- Knowledge of electrical or electronic systems and microprocessor-based controls.
- Ability to work in field environments, such as maintenance and overhaul facilities.
- Proficiency with computer-based data capture software or test equipment.
- Experience interpreting electronic equipment performance data.

- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
