About the role#
The Bus Service Planning unit manages short-term and long-term changes to bus routes and stops across the city. As an intern, you will support full-time staff with data analysis, fieldwork, and project planning. This role is based in New York City and requires regular, in-person attendance.
What you'll do#
- Collect and analyze data to evaluate current and future bus service.
- Create maps and graphics to explain complex data to non-technical audiences.
- Review and respond to feedback from the public and stakeholders regarding Bus Network Redesign plans.
- Engage in public outreach, including on-street activities.
- Provide technical assistance to help improve bus service.
- Assist with post-implementation evaluations for redesign projects in Queens, Brooklyn, and Manhattan.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a graduate program with at least a 2.8 GPA.
- Preferred majors include Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with transit systems and the geography of New York City.
- Experience using ArcGIS or ArcGIS Pro for mapping and geospatial analysis.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
