About the role#
The Safety Management Systems division at the Long Island Rail Road manages the enterprise-wide safety strategy. This role supports the department in aligning policy, risk management, and safety assurance to maintain a compliant transportation environment. You will assist in applying modern safety principles across daily operations and capital projects.
What you'll do#
- Identify, evaluate, and mitigate operational hazards.
- Maintain and update Job Hazard Analysis documentation and records.
- Support the Fatigue Risk Management program requirements.
- Organize and analyze safety data to resolve discrepancies.
- Coordinate meetings, project activities, and draft reports.
- Provide administrative and operational assistance to advance safety initiatives.
- Ensure safety information is accurate, organized, and accessible.
What you'll need#
- Matriculation in an undergraduate program with at least a 2.5 GPA or a graduate program with at least a 2.8 GPA.
- Preferred majors include Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or related fields.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work well under pressure.
- Capability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States and submit a transcript.
