The Counseling Intern position provides graduate-level students with the opportunity to gain clinical experience within a community-based mental health setting. Interns work directly with clients who have experienced trauma, grief, anxiety, and depression. This role focuses on developing clinical skills through the use of evidence-based therapeutic modalities while working under the guidance of a field supervisor.
What you'll do#
- Provide point-of-care services and psychotherapy to clients of various ages.
- Carry a small, independent caseload of clients.
- Conduct client assessments, treatment planning, and discharge planning.
- Participate as an active member of the client's multidisciplinary treatment team.
- Utilize evidence-based modalities such as TF-CBT, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, CBT, DBT, and play therapy.
- Complete necessary clinical documentation.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Master's level program for social work, counseling, or psychology.
- Ability to manage a small caseload of clients.
- Familiarity with evidence-based therapeutic modalities.
- Commitment to a two-semester internship.
