About the role#
The Custom Packaging Design Engineer Co-Op supports the Custom Design and Engineering team by assisting with packaging designs and prototypes. This hands-on role provides training in materials, manufacturing processes, and design software. You will manage projects from concept through execution while learning to create and interpret final prints. This is a full-time, paid position running from Summer 2026 through Fall 2026.
What you'll do#
- Lead and manage assigned projects.
- Provide design samples to meet customer and sales team requirements in a timely manner.
- Develop cost-effective and manufacturable designs from concept to production.
- Ensure design quality by fabricating prototypes for customer approval.
- Suggest improvements for issues discovered during assembly and manufacturing.
- Demonstrate a commitment to safety by following all company policies and procedures.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Junior or Senior pursuing a degree in Plastic Engineering Technology, Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Knowledge of plastic processing, mechanical engineering, and packaging engineering.
- Proficiency with design software, specifically AutoCAD or Solidworks.
- Ability to interpret blueprints and knowledge of automotive or vehicle products.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team in a high-volume environment.
- Ability to travel to manufacturing plants.
