Custom Packaging Design Engineer Co-Op (Summer/Fall 2026)

About the role#

The Custom Packaging Design Engineer Co-Op will support the engineering team in creating packaging designs and prototypes based on customer specifications. This hands-on role provides training in materials, manufacturing processes, and design software. Students will gain experience managing projects from concept through execution, including creating and interpreting final prints.

What you'll do#

• Lead and manage assigned projects.
• Provide design samples to meet customer and sales team requirements in a timely manner.
• Develop cost-effective and manufacturable designs from concept to production.
• Ensure design quality by fabricating prototypes for customer approval.
• Suggest solutions for issues discovered during assembly and manufacturing.
• Maintain a commitment to safety by following all company policies and procedures.

What you'll need#

• Junior or Senior standing pursuing a degree in Plastic Engineering Technology, Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Knowledge of plastic processing, mechanical engineering, and packaging engineering.
• Proficiency with design software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
• Ability to interpret blueprints.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently and within a team.
• Knowledge of automotive or vehicle products is preferred.

• Location: Piedmont, South Carolina (On-site).
• Term: Summer 2026 through Fall 2026.
• Employment Type: Full-time, paid.
