About the role#
The Emerging Technologies team analyzes and creates resources for new methods that improve our existing solutions. As an intern, you will support this work while gaining experience in energy infrastructure for hospitals and university facilities. You will work under the supervision of departmental staff, attend meetings, and participate in learning experiences such as jobsite tours and safety inspections.
What you'll do#
- Create a master checklist of goals to guide your internship and serve as an evaluation tool.
- Provide analytical support for project deliverables.
- Collect data and maintain spreadsheets, databases, and reports.
- Identify vendor options for new technologies and gather budgetary cost information.
- Develop and publish knowledge-sharing tools and standards.
- Prepare reports and presentations.
- Apply modeling tools to development projects and identify opportunities for automation.
- Study company policies and procedures to learn our operations.
- Provide feedback on your experience during an exit interview.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited university as a Junior or Senior in an Engineering program.
- Preferred educational focus in mechanical or electrical engineering, energy, construction management, data science, statistics, marketing, or finance.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel, R, or Python.
- Familiarity with building energy systems, utility rate tariffs, and statistical analysis.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to turn data into insights.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, multitask, and take initiative.
- Reliable daily transportation and a commitment to punctuality.
- A focus on safety and respect for company equipment.
Location & details#
- Location: Salt Lake City, Utah.
- Modality: On-site.
- Employment: Full-time, paid.
- Travel: 0-5 percent of time may be spent at job sites or offices.
- Environment: Requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and computer work, repetitive hand motions, and climbing stairs.
