About the role#
Ardmore Roderick is hiring a Civil Engineering Intern to join our infrastructure team in Lisle, Illinois. This is a full-time, paid summer internship running from May 24, 2027, through mid-late August 2027. You will work on-site, gaining experience across various transportation project aspects while working alongside our staff and other interns.
What you'll do#
- Assist with data collection and reporting for structural assets.
- Conduct field inspections for drainage, environmental, ITS, and tolling systems.
- Perform structural inspections on bridges, walls, and overhead signs.
- Carry out office-based inspections for pavement, safety assets, and right of way.
- Identify repair needs and update the asset management system.
- Complete an OSHA 10 Certification.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited undergraduate program for Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to follow direction from mentors and managers.
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Prior internship or campus leadership experience is a plus.
- Comfort working outdoors on the Illinois Tollway shoulder and within active construction zones.
- Ability to conduct inspections in various weather conditions, including wet and dry environments.
- A valid driver's license with the ability to drive safely on the Illinois Tollway for extended periods, in both wet and dry conditions.
