About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern at Meijer, you will support our pharmacy team in providing clinical services and high-quality customer care. This part-time, paid position offers a chance to gain hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting. You will work on-site in Pewaukee, Wisconsin, under the supervision of a pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Provide direct customer service, including answering questions and assisting with product selection.
- Communicate with patients in person and over the phone.
- Process and fill prescriptions by using the pharmacy computer system for data entry and third-party adjudication.
- Handle daily pharmacy tasks such as pulling products, counting, and labeling prescriptions.
- Manage inventory by updating stock levels, ordering products, and processing transfers or salvage.
- Assist with clinical services, including health screenings and immunizations, once you have completed the necessary training and hold the required state authorizations.
- Facilitate third-party functions and help resolve billing issues.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited pharmacy school.
- A valid state-specific Pharmacy Intern License.
- Strong communication skills, empathy, and a professional appearance.
- Ability to perform pharmaceutical calculations and use basic math.
- Knowledge of brand and generic medication names, dosage forms, and medical terminology.
- Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
- A team-oriented mindset and a commitment to patient confidentiality.
- Dependability and a positive attitude.
- Familiarity with MTM platforms, MP6, and pharmacy billing processes.
