About the role#
This 11-week internship provides a foundation in retail operations and leadership. You will work on projects that impact the business and present your findings to senior executives. The program includes an executive speaker series, professional development, and networking events. During the second half of the program, you will serve as an Intern Team Leader. This role is a pathway to future store leadership positions at Meijer.
What you'll do#
- Plan, direct, and supervise team members in daily store operations.
- Mentor and coach staff to ensure sales goals and service standards are met.
- Implement strategies to improve customer service and drive store sales.
- Manage store appearance, product presentation, and company standards.
- Support your department in achieving sales targets, managing shrink, and overseeing the P&L.
- Promote a safe work environment and ensure efficient service for all customers.
- Participate in the Intern roadshow and other company engagement events.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program, specifically in Business Administration or Operations Management.
- A strong interest in retail and a desire to pursue a career in store leadership.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends.
- Strong communication, decision-making, and relationship-building skills.
- A drive for results and a focus on customer needs.
- Prior retail experience or past leadership roles in work or extracurricular activities are preferred.
